The GlitchMob ~ http://www.myspace.com/theglitchmob
When five friends, djs and music producers, Ooah, edIT, Boreta, Kraddy, Kitty-D, all noted fixtures on the West Coast's underground electronica scene, came together one night in an experiment in collaboration, they opened their laptops, and The Glitch Mob was formed, and with it the birth of a sound that is at once fresh and familiar.
The Mob deconstructs the standard notions of collaboration, performance, and genre to create a fully immersive, novel experience for their audiences. The format of their live shows takes the convention of a two dj tag-team set and reinvents it by utilizing anywhere from two to five djs on stage at once who interact musically more like a jazz combo feeding one continuous stream, each taking the lead at intuitive moments then threading back into the whole.
No genre is off limits. Their slant - take it all, interweave and remix it live, add their own sounds and shards, and recompose everything on the fly. The effect is a sound utterly subversive, distinctly their own, one that blends the rhythmic accessibility of hip hop with the big, bassy insistence of breakbeat, all laid out like digital molasses with a deep, sultry, crook-of-the-finger yearning that quakes the head, heart, and hips and feels irrefutably danceable.
So innovative is their expression that in less than a year since their formation the Glitch Mob has caught the attention of some of the industry's most notable artists, bringing them to headline alongside Digable Planets, Hank Shocklee (of Public Enemy), Diplo, Prefuse 73, Richard Devine, Funkstorung, Dabrye, STS9, Tipper, Modeselektor, Freq Nasty, Telefon Tel Aviv, Zilla, Plaid, and more.
The Mob continues to crisscross the globe with international bookings at venues and festivals from Coachella to Shambhala to NASA, from Electric Daisy Carnival to SXSW. |

Allow his sound to catalyze your travels into haunting ecstasy, and you will not return to your same beginning. Playing only his own originally produced music live, the depth and craftsmanship of this offering is remarkable. With an array of drum machines, samplers, sequencers, and instruments, it is a clear devotion to expression and perfection. The beats are smooth, bold, and overwhelming. The original vocals, melodies and hitting bass merge seamlessly into a tapestry of unique and unexpected journeys. |

Since writing the previous sentence in third person about myself, I'm suddenly uninterested in writing this bio. I don't have a manager or a bullshit publicist trying to hype up what I do. I share the music I love. Let's use this music to travel beyond where we've known possible. Sound is our vessel; dissolve your monkey attachments within a new hologram… |

Laura ~ El Circo
I am just trying to do the best that i can......i want to free my mind.... i am here to honor life......in playing the human ego game, i never want to forget the importance of existence and all the beautiful creatures we co-exist with. what really matters is what's written in the heart, not what's on the page. i never want to forget my heart and i want to help others remember theirs..... so while i am fully emerged in the game, i am also listening to my heart......... so anyway, i LOVE music…i imagine my whole life will be involved with it somehow. i am working on my skills to create what i hear in my head and in my dreams….i probably have a long journey ahead of me but i know it will be a fulfilling one. i grew up with semi “hippie” parents and can't help but be influenced by the genre…. probably more the rockier side of it. as of now i love down and dirty hip hop (but conscious...well...most of the time :) - bassy, glithced out breaks that make no sense - deep, dark mind twisting tech house - sassy ass electro - flattening dub step - rich and grufffff ragga. oh and the most tearful, heart wrenching sounds that one can experience through voice and music......It's such a wonderful, freeing feeling crying to somehting so touching. I love the abstract but find it's a bit harder to dj out. music is a life long passion and i am thankful that it is in my blood…….. |

Shawna ~ Apsara, El Circo
Shawna's passion for music began in early childhood and throughout while attending the winnipeg music folk festival in manitoba, canada, where she grew up. there, she was exposed to musical genius from all over the planet, which greatly refined her her ear for the subtleties and origins of all types of music. it wasn't until the age of 18 that she took any interest in electronic music, and began persuing mostly world fusion, "down tempo", and ambient. always searching for that same quality of depth in the electronic realm, she has since collected a vast diversity from hip hop/dub/dancehall/world fusion to "idm"/house/tech/electro. she's been dj-ing "out" since 1999.
Always eclectic, her diverse tastes are brought to the dance floor where she aims to find something for everyone in every set, as well as to attend to as many of the emotional/ego realms from sexy to uplifting spirited bliss. |

Stridah- ACKlabs/Nexus/13Moontribe-Santa Cruz
Concieved, born and raised under a large mixing console in a recording studio, Stridah, whose name means drum-machine in boom-chickenese, has been listening to the emotive and sometimes emollient sounds of the human race since day 1.
In the evenings he was lulled to sleep by the buzzing sounds of ungrounded equipment and distortion of old cables, which is a tradition continued today. Today, he is a combination of the racket of the outside world of man, and the conscious thoughts of plant life and mycelial networks of the funguses, who happen to like bass. Please, come ACK with us. www.myspace.com/acklabs |

SPORQUE is a musical collaboration between the dj and producer known as Ooah, and Jamie Janover and Aaron Holstein from the band ZILLA. This trio blurs the boundary between dj and live band. Both Ooah and Aaron are synched together on 2 separate laptops, Ooah plays programmed drum beats and loops with a midi controller and drum pads while tweaking all the sounds with multiple effects and a dj mixer, he also uses one turntable for the live turntablism and scratches. Aaron plays all the subsonic bass and harmonic melodies with multiple keyboards and Jamie plays a variety of percussion instruments including the hammered dulcimer, mini-kit and sampler in addition to sitar and electric kalimba. Cool hand Luke ~ www.frigidigits.net -
Cool Hand Luke hails from the barrios of East LA where he first got his start in the seventies being an extra in Cheech & Chong movies and djing before WAR shows. After a mix-up involving a humidor and a prophylactic at a bachelor party, Cool Hand Luke split to Jamaica and got a job as night janitor at the legendary Black Ark studios. Luke accidentally burnt down the Black Ark while cleaning Lee Perry's toy robot collection one night - effectively ending his employment there. Somehow the years he spent there in the dub-infused environment, drinking Tia Maria with Scratch in the hot jungle night altered his body forever. The dub fused with his DNA giving him secret powers to rock the groove fantastic that would serve him well in the years ahead as he battled to defeat stagnant dancefloors. After leaving Jamaica in the early 80s, Cool Hand Luke moved to Detroit where he introduced Juan Atkins to Derrick May and started Detroit techno. Most of the early 90s was spent starting the Wicked full moons, XLR8R magazine, and the legendary Gathering parties. This was in addition to a busy schedule as keyboard player for the Grateful Dead. To this day the Bruce/Vince/Cool Hand with all three keyboardists are the shows most collected by deadheads. Focusing more on dance music in the late 90s and early 2000s, Cool Hand Luke has been an instrumental part of the breaks scene, coining the word "grime", introducing M.I.A. to Diplo and buying Lorin of Bassnectar his first hair extensions. In addition to the djing extensively, Luke has been kept quite busy doing interpretive dance performances to DJ Brother mixes. In the future he sees himself getting a sex-change and living out the rest of his life as a little British Granny. |

“I think there is a magical transcription of whatever is happening during a set, through the turntable needles, and whatever is in our hearts and minds is transmitted through the those speakers. When its deep, it's really deep, and you can hear that all around us, & sometimes you can even see it.” |
